Chesapeake Bay Skipjacks

Every fall for more than a century, the towns along the Chesapeake Bay have come alive as captains readied their skipjacks, wooden sailing vessels that appear to skip across the water for a long winter of oyster dredging. Once numbering nearly 1,000, today there are only about a dozen skipjacks remaining in commercial use.
