Talbot and Queen Anne's County libraries are working together to create a community information database available on the Internet. There are currently records for over 500 organizations for the two counties in this database. The database is part of a statewide library project called Maryland Share.
The types of organizations that can be listed in Maryland Share include:
The Web address for Maryland Share is www.mdshare.org ; you can also go to the Talbot County Free Library's web page, www.talb.lib.md.us and click on the Community link in the right hand column.
You can submit information on Community Organizations by filling out the online form at www.talb.lib.md.us/community/index.html and clicking on Submit Community Organization Information. You can also contact Chris Eareckson, Asst. Interlibrary Loan, (410-822-1626) chrise@talb.lib.md.us or Scotti Oliver, Adult Services Librarian, (410-822-1626) soliver@talb.lib.md.us Mailing and faxing information is included on the database form.
The Maryland Share database is available 24 hours a day from any computer with Internet access. If an organization has a web page, there will be a hyperlink in the Share record to that organization's web page. Records also include addresses, contact people, a brief description of the services provided, hours, volunteer opportunities, etc. These records are fully indexed so that you can search for an organization by name, geographic location, or by the services it provides.
Information about community organizations and the services they provide is often difficult to find. Many organizations are not listed in phone books and do not have a permanent address. If you know of an organization that should be included please contact the Talbot County Free Library.
