Author Dr. Joan Maloof Presents: "Nature's Temples: A Natural History of Old-Growth Forests"
Dr. Joan Maloof, award-winning author of “Nature’s Temples: A Natural History of Old-Growth Forests,” will give a reading and talk in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library. Dr. Maloof is a professor emeritus at Salisbury University, where she taught Biological Sciences and Environmental Studies. In addition to “Nature’s Temple” and other publications in scholarly journals, Maloof founded the Old-Growth Forest Network (https://www.oldgrowthforest.net/) If you care about nature, if you have always thought the notion of a forest untouched by man—the forest primeval—as something magical and enchanting, then you won’t want to miss this talk by one of our country’s foremost authorities on America’s remaining old-growth forests. Founding Talbot: Connecting by Water with Pete Lesher
We welcome Pete Lesher, Chief Historian at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD. He will present "Founding Talbot: Connecting by Water." Boasting more than 600 miles of shoreline, people in Talbot County have always been reliant on the water for trade and sustenance. This illustrated talk will explore how from its founding, Talbot County residents made good use of their geographical advantages in shipping and shipbuilding, and how their choices began to shape the place as we have come to know it.
